My grandfather planted his first coffee trees in the hills of Huehuetenango in 1950. The altitude was right, the land was affordable, and he saw an opportunity. In those early days, he grew the coffee and sold the green beans to whoever was buying.
Today, the same hillside is still in our family. We grow the coffee there, roast it ourselves in small batches, and name each lot after the person who cares for it. What started with my grandfather is still a family tradition.
